The House
Torria sits on a rocky ridge in the Impero valley — a village that has looked the same for centuries. Ca' Serena is a restored stone house at its heart: thick walls that stay cool in summer, a garden with old arches and bougainvillea, and a terrace from which, on clear days, the sea reaches all the way to the coast of Corsica.
No pool, no entertainment programme, no front desk. Instead: morning mist over the olive groves, birdsong instead of traffic, and evenings where the sky provides all the entertainment you need.
"Twixt Lerici and Turbia, the most secluded pathway is a stair — easy and open, if compared with that."
Dante, Purgatorio III, 49 — Via Aurelia, LiguriaInside
Four bedrooms on three floors, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a living room with fireplace and gallery — all set within old stone walls with wooden beam ceilings.

The Village
Tûria, as the locals call it. Around a hundred souls perched on a rocky ridge, 437 metres above the sea, surrounded by olive groves and chestnut forests — with a panorama that, on clear days, stretches all the way to Corsica.
The village has grown over centuries: narrow lanes, houses leaning on each other, and a silence you had forgotten to look for.
Ca' Serena is part of the village's oldest core. The walls of the house have stood for at least 800 years — built, rebuilt, extended, and eventually become what it is today.
Dedicated to Saint Martin of Tours, this parish church likely dates back to the 11th century and is first documented in 1281. Built in the early Romanesque style, it was extended several times through the 16th century. Today it is defined by a striking bell tower and four large side altars dating from 1585.
The Santuario dell'Annunziata sits at nearly 500 metres in the forest above Torria. Nestled among oaks and chestnuts, with a spectacular view over the valley — reachable on foot in 20 minutes.
The stone basin at the edge of the village, where mules and sheep once drank, still stands — a quiet witness to the old farming life of the Impero valley.
In the former village school, the VIVITORRIA.FUTURO committee has created something special: a faithfully reconstructed classroom with original benches, a teacher's desk and maps on the walls — as if time had stood still. Alongside: thousands of historical books and a photo collection showing faces and moments from Torria's past. Visits by appointment: vivitorria.futuro@virgilio.it

On clear days, the silhouette of Corsica is visible on the horizon from the terrace.
Almost the Entire House
The upper two floors are all yours — with your own entrance, kitchen, garden and everything that goes with it. We occasionally stay on-site ourselves — quiet neighbours you can ask, but don't have to.
Strada dell'Olio
Torria sits on the Strada dell'Olio, the route of the Taggiasca olive — Liguria's finest.
The Region
The Impero valley doesn't feature in glossy travel brochures — and that's precisely the point. The old town of Imperia, the promenade of San Remo, the Maritime Alps, the Corniches towards Nice: all within an hour's drive.

Food & Drink
Pesto made in a mortar, focaccia still warm at midnight, fish straight from the beach. The best restaurants around Torria are family-run places where the owners still cook themselves.
History
The Via Aurelia, running through the Impero valley, was for millennia the main artery between Rome and the wider world. Those who passed through left their mark.
